I  am an internationally qualified mountain guide, and a member of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations IFMGA.
The IFMGA sets the highest standards for the national Mountain Guide associations to comply with. Individual guides are members of their national associations and by default members of the IFMGA after finishing their guide training.
I am involved with the training of mountain guides for the British Mountain Guides  and the Kyrgyz Mountain Guide Association. I am a member of the British Mountain Guides (BMG) where I made my training to become a mountain guide, the Kyrgyz Mountain Guides (KMGA) and more recently the Swiss Mountain Guides Association (SMGA) as I am based in Leysin Switzerland.

I have been climbing for over 30 years and guiding for 20 years I have climbed and guided extensively in Britain and the European Alps as well as going further a field to climb and guide in places such as Russia, Kirgizstan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, North America, and Alaska.

As an independent guide I feel that I have the freedom and the ability to provide uniquely rewarding climbing experiences for my clients. Most of my clients book as a group or an individual which means that I will personally customise your trip to your requirements. When designing your trip I consider the abilities of the group or individual and their goals. With this in mind I can find the ideal place to achieve our objectives. Flexibility is often the key to a successful trip and as we are small groups we can achieve this.

Unlike many larger guiding organisations you will be getting me to guide you, (or me and another hand picked guide working closely with me if you are a group which requires more than one guide). I prefer to be totally responsible for the success of your trip and feel that my own experience in climbing and guiding in so many parts of the world, uniquely qualifies me to decide how best to conduct your personalised program.

My trips are usually planned in response to requests by individuals or small groups who wish to go to a specific area for an objective. The objective could be a certain peak or route or to gain necessary skills for the mountains. I can also suggest itineraries to help the client to achieve their ambitions.

I value the personal relationships which  I form with my clients. This aspect of our work is really important to me, and keeps me excited about guiding as a lifelong career. Most of my work is return business and many of my clients climb with me on a regular basis.

I constantly work to maintain and upgrade my own skills and qualifications. I am also the Training Officer for the British Mountain Guides Association and am actively involved in training and assessing guides.

I am based in Leysin Switzerland. This is a village is very central in the Alps and easy to get to from Geneva, and Zurich airports. The Swiss Valais, Oberland, Chamonix, Urner Alps and Val D'Aosta (Gran Paradiso, Cervinia etc) are all easily within a two hour drive.

Leysin as a village has a lot to offer being a ski resort in the winter and a fantastic place for Alpine walking, rock climbing and mountain biking in the summer. Click here for more information on Leysin
